Our Approach

Our Approach at Fortitude Health Vic Park

Assess. Restore. Rebuild.

Getting out of pain matters, but we don't want to stop there. We look beyond the symptoms to understand what may be contributing to the problem and what needs to improve to help you move forward.

Our approach combines thorough assessment, chiropractic care, soft tissue therapy and progressive rehabilitation to help reduce pain, restore movement and progressively rebuild your physical capacity.

The end goal depends on you. It could be working comfortably, getting back into the gym, running, climbing, playing golf or simply feeling more confident in what your body can do.

How We Approach Your Care

Assess. Restore. Rebuild.

We first work to understand what is happening and what you want to get back to. From there, care can progress from reducing pain and symptoms towards rebuilding the physical qualities you need for everyday life, work, training or sport.

1
Understand the Problem

Assess

Your first step is a thorough assessment to understand your condition, how your symptoms started and what may be aggravating them.

Your assessment will include:

  • A thorough health history, including what brought your symptoms on and what makes them better or worse
  • Appropriate orthopaedic and neurological testing
  • Functional and movement testing relevant to your presentation
  • Understanding your goals and what is important for you to get back to doing
  • Further evaluation, investigation or referral if clinically indicated
2
Reduce Pain and Symptoms

Restore

Early care focuses on reducing pain and symptoms while slowly rebuilding your body so you can progress towards the next stage of your rehabilitation.

Treatment may include:

  • Chiropractic and manual therapy
  • Soft tissue techniques
  • Dry needling
  • Cupping
  • Graston Technique
  • TENS machine
3
Build Strength and Capacity

Rebuild

Once your pain is settling and movement is improving, the focus can shift towards rebuilding the strength, control and physical capacity required for the things you want to do.

Your rehabilitation may work towards:

  • Returning to the gym and strength training
  • Running and sport
  • Golf and climbing
  • Meeting the demands of physical work
  • Moving confidently through everyday life
The goal is to build the physical capacity required for the activities that matter to you.
Our Rehabilitation Philosophy

Mobility. Stability. Strength.

Rehabilitation is about understanding the physical qualities required for the task in front of you. Depending on what we find, we can work on developing mobility, stability and strength to progressively build your capacity.

1

Mobility

Freedom of Movement

Mobility is your ability to access the movement required for a task. We look at whether you can actively move through the ranges needed for your work, training, sport and everyday activities.

2

Stability

Ability to Resist Force

Stability is your ability to resist force and maintain control. Once you can access a position or movement, we look at whether you can control it when your body is challenged.

3

Strength

Ability to Exert Force

Strength is your ability to exert force. As your movement and control improve, we can progressively increase load and challenge to build the capacity needed for the activities you want to perform.

Mobility gives you access. Stability gives you control. Strength builds your capacity.
