A large percentage of people have a preconceived idea of how many Chiropractic sessions they will need, being that once you see a Chiropractor you have to go for the rest of your life, this stems from “old-school” Chiropractic philosophy. However, this is untrue, when you attend a Chiropractic clinic your first appointment will include a thorough assessment, leading the clinician to a working diagnosis. Once this has been identified you will receive a management plan which will include an estimate into the amount of sessions you will require. This can range from 1 visit/session to upwards of 20 sessions (albeit very rare).
Each person is assessed as an individual, which means no two people will receive the same management plan (or amount of sessions). Each condition or working diagnosis will require a different plan or schedule to get that individual to return to baseline (prior to pain).
WHAT IS A SESSION OF CHIROPRACTIC?
This will depend on the Chiropractor you visit, our clinic focus’s on the assessment and management of musculoskeletal injuries, these include low back pain, neck pain or even shoulder pain.
At Fortitude Health our session times vary from 15 minutes to 45 minutes, each session includes an:
- Assessment
- Treatment
- Advice / rehab exercises
- Revisit your management plan

CAN I REDUCE THE AMOUNT OF CHIROPRACTIC SESSONS I NEED?
People visit Chiropractors for acute and chronic pain relief, prevention of injuries or wellness care.
The amount of sessions for our pain relief patients will depend on many factors, some include: the type of injury, how long it’s been there for, prior experience of pain and much more. This is why the amount of sessions vary and can range from 1-20 sessions.
When people attend our clinic for prevention of injuries we do extra tests such as squats, lunges, and box jumps, these give us information about symmetry, power, endurance and strength and will give us a better picture when assessing the likelihood of reoccurence.* The amount of sessions greatly depend of frequency of exercise and level of sport.
Our wellness care patients are the ones who don’t exercise and spend most of their available time at work, these people generally come to the clinic every few weeks to every month to help reduce severity and frequency of their symptoms.
You can reduce the amount of Chiropraction sessions needed, however, it largely depends on your ability to learn, listen and perform exercises that your Chiropractor has prescribed for you.
*Baring in mind that currently there is no good evidence to show any test will prevent injuries.
